Nano technology : 30 fold reduction in particle size of Silver sulfadiazine (20
microns → 0.5 microns), 50 fold increase in surface area (2m2/g → 90m2/g)
increases
contact with wound pathogens for effective infection control.
Addition of stabilizer polymer prevents silver particle agglomeration (aggregation) and
maintains nano size of silver sulfadiazine throughout shelf-life of product.
Perdurable product : White cream remains white throughout its shelf-life.
Easy to spread across wound surface, Minimizes pain on application, Ideal for exudating
wounds, Well tolerated by patients & offers convenience of application for caregivers.
Available packs :
10gm, 20gm tubes & 240gm jars
Anti-microbial Spectrum :
Silver sulfadiazine and chlorhexidine gluconate combination cream has a broad-spectrum
antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram–negative microorganisms, particularly
Staphylococcus aureus,
Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus sp, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella
sp. It has also been shown to be effective against Candida albicans.
Sufficient data have been obtained to demonstrate that silver sulfadiazine will
inhibit bacteria that are resistant to other antimicrobial agents and that the compound is superior to
sulfadiazine
Silver Sulfadiazine :
Silver sulfadiazine acts on the cell membrane and cell wall to produce its
bactericidal effect. Sufficient data have been obtained to demonstrate that silver sulfadiazine will
inhibit bacteria that are resistant
to other antimicrobial agents and that the compound is superior to sulfadiazine
1
Silver sulfadiazine has broad spectrum antimicrobial activity. It is bactericidal for
many gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria as well as effective against yeast1,2
Chlorhexidine :
Chlorhexidine is a positively-charged molecule; therefore, it is strongly attracted to
bacterial cells which are characteristically negatively charged. It has been reported that in an adequate
amount of chlorhexidine,
the surface charge of the bacterial cell is rapidly neutralized and becomes positively charged. The rapid
changes in the charge of the bacterial cell membrane apparently cause damage to the permeability
of the membrane and causes leakage of cytoplasm and nucleotides

Dosage & Administration :
Prior to 1st application of Silverex SSD, the burn wounds should be
cleansed with sterile normal saline, and if required, debridement should also be done. Silverex SSD cream,
sufficient to cover the
burn wound(s), should be applied once or twice daily under aseptic conditions.
The requirement for closed or open dressings and its duration should be at the
discretion of the physician. Where necessary, the cream should be re-applied to any area from which it has
been removed by patient
activity.
Treatment with Silverex SSD should be continued until the wound heals or as per
the discretion of the physician
